Non-Surgical Face Lift Options

by Ian Richards

People who are looking to retain their youthful looks normally think about having painful surgery, yet there are a number of non-surgical face lift therapies that can be just as effective and will usually cost a lot less with little or no recovery time involved. For those who wish to avoid chemicals and injections, yet still want a youthful looking face, there is a method for a natural face lift.

Surgery will require you to have a fairly long re cooperation time and it is not without an element of danger. Although an average surgical face lift costs around 3000/$6000, you may find that there are other costs involved post surgery. It is those factors that make non-surgical face lifts more attractive, even though the results do not last as long. Some methods even have an added advantage if a person has some minor skin imperfections as these can often be rectified at the same time. Find out how to chose the right method for you.

The first thing people think about when you talk about non-surgical face lifting is Botox. This is possibly the most popular form of face lifting. It works by being injected into certain facial muscles which then relax and get paralysed so that they don’t move. This means that your skin won’t crease or wrinkle and gives it a younger look. You will need to decide how many injections you need which normally cost approximately 100/$200 per shot. The great thing is that after the injections, it only takes an hour or so for the swelling to subside so you could even get them done in your lunch hour and look fantastic for that evening date. You will not need any further shots for between 3 to 6 months. Each person will be different. Only those who are taking anti-biotics are exempt from this treatment, but will be eligible once they have finished their medication.

Another popular option that also requires needles is the collagen injection. Collagen, which is part of the skins’ structure, is injected into the affected areas. It fills out the skin which is why it is also known as filler, making it smooth and younger looking. There are several different types of fillers which can be used so it is worth talking to your cosmetic surgeon about the options available. The cost of the injections will depend on the type of filler used. As many of the substances used are natural, they get absorbed into the body, the individual rate of absorption will dictate how many treatments you need in a year.

Another form of non-surgical face lifting is the skin resurfacing technique which includes laser treatment, microdermabrasion, chemical peel and dermabrasion, although some more radical forms of dermabrasion is considered to be a surgical operation. These methods all rely on the removal of the surface layers of the skin to reduce the appearance of aging. They work well with light wrinkles and lines but not with deep ones which can only be affected with the full dermabrasion which usually requires a full anaesthetic. The costs are between 75/$150 to over 1000/$2000, depending on the treatment but the results should last for a year or so.

You will also find a wide variety of face lift creams on the market that are said to reduce the signs of ageing. Each has it’s own particular formula that will work on your skin. There is no right one, only the one that works best for your particular type of skin. You may have to try a couple before you find the one you are completely satisfied with.

The easiest, cheapest and possibly the most longer lasting of the non-surgical face lifts are facial exercises. This method is often dismissed as being too time consuming, yet after the initial intense period, it only takes a few minutes a day and can usually be incorporated into your moisturising regime. If you have already had a face lift, it will prolong the life of it and if you are thinking about getting a face lift, doing facial exercises before hand can improve the final results. Not every type of facial exercise is appropriate, choose the isometric type and you won’t go far wrong, after all it is the only natural face lift there is.

Whenever contemplating any type of cosmetic face lift, it is advisable to consult your doctor first even for the non-surgical face lifts as they nearly all require some form of work to your facial tissues. Chose a good cosmetic surgery, one that is a member of a recognised trade association. Ask amongst your friends to get one that they have used and trust. It may be worth paying a little more for your peace of mind.
