Acne: Be Aware Of Acne Facts That Will Help Treat It
There are many myths regarding treatments of acne. There are also a handfull of urban legends about anything that has to do with the human body. Of course, you can’t treat acne the right way unless you obtain “acne awareness”. With this in mind, it’s all about knowing what works, what doesn’t and what you can do to treat acne most effectively.
Myth 1: Only Teenagers Get Acne
This just isn’t true. With what we know today, and what we know about acne, anyone at any time can start getting acne. It’s just that the hormone shifts in the teenagers body makes them more prone to get acne. Acne is not caused by age. Acne is pure bacteria in the pores, which can happen to anyone. This means that if you don’t clean your skin you are likely to start seeing pimples, zits and spots… these may be seen as light types of acne.
Myth 2: You Always Have To Visit The Doctor In Order To Get Rid Of Acne
If you have cystic acne, which is a more serious and painful type of acne that leaves ugly scars for life, then YES, it’s likely you’ll need to see a doctor fast. This kind of deep red sores that are increadibly painful will usually not be solved with anything except prescription treatments, time and patience.
But if you have regular acne, with little whiteheads that don’t usually hurt and do not leave any scars, you can treat the acne by yourself. If you still have questions about your skin or about acne awareness, be sure to ask your doctor. Nothing will shock your doctor.
Myth 3: Alcohol Based Lotions Are A Must For Acne
This is simply wrong! The popular counter acne treatments with a smell of alcohol is almost always way to harsh on simple acne. They do remove the oils and dirt that you want to remove, but it also empties your skin of sebum (your bodies natural oils). The body responds negativaly, by thinking that the sebum is gone, when in reality it’s still there and it starts to product more to compensate for the previous loss. To prevent this, just use soap and mild cleaners 2-3 per day to remove dirt and oil.
Myth 4: Scubbing When Washing Is A Must
Again, false. You don’t need to scrub your face like a crazy person, you simple need to wash gently with mild soaps. Try to use cold enough water, but at the same time hot enough, and never use piping hot water! Instead of scrubbing your face with a towel, simple lightly touch your face with the towel. Learning and knowing about washing your face the right way is essential for proper acne awareness.
